Single Review: Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop

Unless you've been living under a rock, then you'll of heard the musical debut of Miley Cyrus 2.0. The Mike WiLL Made It produced cut, who's production credits range from Kelly Rowlands floptastic 'Kisses Down Low', Ciaras 'Body Party' and RiRis ratchet strip-club ready anthem 'Pour It Up', serves as the comeback of the singer/actress but more importantly, it serves as a massive middle finger to the Disney girl Miley use to be.

Boasting distorted vocals, a drums and piono-led beat with a dash of bass heavy electronica (reminiscent.to that of fun. "We Are Young), Cyrus's monotone vocals glide along the song exploring a clusterfuck of controversial topics ranging from drugs to equal love, free speech to partying all night, and big booty bitches to religion. Arguably not the most obvious Top 40 sounding concaution, however the catchy and cool 'La-da-dee-da-dee's, 'oooo-ooooh's and the repetitive hook gives the track radio-friendly appeal.
The cringey and try hard urban moments like "home girls here with the big butts" which one could argue would be better suited for a Rihanna or Nicki Minaj track don't go un noticed. Not to mention the lack of initial wow factor the laidback track had, especially in contrast to the instantaneous 'Can't Be Tamed' (which the blonde singer has admitted to finding "irritating").
Overall, the track finds itself as one of the more interesting offerings the year has brought us. It sure will solidify Miley Cyrus 2.0 as the new, hipper artist she vies to be. Though more of a grower than a shower, this new track shows a promising start in what is the reboot of Mileys career.
