Song of the Week: Disclosure - Help Me Lose My Mind (feat. London Grammar)

Since it was made available to stream, I have been jamming to this track ever since and with the launch of my new blog, it'd be a sin for me not to shine a spotlight on this gem.

The duos number one debut album, is nothing short of a musical haven but this track in particular, 'Help Me Lose My Mind', stands out above the rest. Over an atmospheric dance beat, drenched in the Disclosure signature sound and accompanied by gorgeous siren-like, weighty vocals, the track effortlessly flows so much so you'll be swaying your head left to right before you even realise it. Certainly a must hear if you haven't heard it already.

Through out the years, we have seen a surge in the dance music trend. Every other mainstream artist has released or featured on a dance track at one point or another, and you'd be hard pressed to find artists who haven't. On the flip slide, there has also been a surge in the hip-hop scene..of the bad ass bitch variety. The past few years have been met with mouthy females, oozing sheer sexuality and beauty, topped off with a 'don't mess with me' attitude. Below, I sound off on the current femme fatales running the female rap scene and in some cases, the music scene.

Nicki Minaj: I could imagine that the image above was met with a giant sigh, followed by a sarcastic comment and a smirk but hear me out. Minaj boasts guest appearances on tracks by Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Usher, Madonna, Britney Spears, Kanye West, Chris Brown and David Guetta. Quite an impressive feat, no? And instead of rubbing facts in your face, the colourful singer has actually done some great work. Who could forget what arguably is her best rap verse to date on Yeezys "Monster", or her own "Super Bass". Minaj's ingenious way of having crossover appeal to mainstream music and achieving worldwide success has undeniably allowed other female rappers to come to the forefront. Plus, her wigs are pretty fab too.

Pharrell continues to produce and feature on hot tracks

The title says it all really. Over the course of this year alone, the N.E.R.D star has featured and co-produced some of the biggest and greatest tracks of the year so far, 'Blurred Lines' and 'Get Lucky' (both of which are number 2 and 1 in the biggest selling UK songs of 2013 list so far). The 40 year old star (you read that correctly, yes) is on course to have even more groundbreaking success with new song 'Get Like Me', by Nelly which features Williams and Nicki Minaj.

Krewella debut the rather good 'Live For The Night'

The trio have been making some serious waves recently. With their single 'Alive' going Gold in America, the group have never been hotter and what better way to capitalise on that than to premiere a new song! Over a bouncy EDM beat and light dubstep influences (which in parts is reminiscent of Icona Pops - Ready for the Weekend), compliments the seriously catchy hook 'I live for the nighttt'. By no means groundbreaking, or as amazing as 'Play Hard' the seriously catchy, refreshing track is a nice break from the by-the-number dance tracks on radio these days. • Avril Levigne reportedly got married.
• Charli XCX becomes the new face of Max Factor

Artist of the Week: Ivy Levan

Cherrytree Records houses incredible talent such as the likes of Robyn, Disclosure, Ellie Goulding, Jessie Ware and Natalia Kills. So naturally, it comes as no surprise that Ivy Levan is nothing short of amazing, being in such great company.

G.R.L - Vacation: The mastermind behind the Pussycat Dolls and Girlicious, slave driver, Robin Antin, gears up to launch her new fiesty girl group to the world, G.R.L. The bubbly guitar driven cut is set to appear on 'The Smurffs 2 Official Soundtrack', and is currently available as a b-side to the Holy Spearits smurftastic smurf anthem "Ooh La La". Single Review: Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop

Unless you've been living under a rock, then you'll of heard the musical debut of Miley Cyrus 2.0. The Mike WiLL Made It produced cut, who's production credits range from Kelly Rowlands floptastic 'Kisses Down Low', Ciaras 'Body Party' and RiRis ratchet strip-club ready anthem 'Pour It Up', serves as the comeback of the singer/actress but more importantly, it serves as a massive middle finger to the Disney girl Miley use to be.
